Social Networking for Book Lovers

If you love to read and are would like to learn a new social networking site, there is a great website for you to look into:

www.goodreads.com

I found this website one day and I have been in love with it ever since. If you are like me and forget which books you are wanting to read, or just want to share what you are reading with friends, it is a perfect website to do that.

First, Goodreads's database is HUGE! Every book you have ever wanted to find is included on their website, including a variety of editions for each. You can search books through book lists, reviews, ISBN numbers, etc.

When you have found the books you are looking for, Goodreads automatically organizes it into three categories (read, currently reading, to-read). If you have just finished a book, you can write a review or simply give it a quick five-star rating. No more accidently re-reading a book you have already completed! Also, you can add desired books to your "to-read" list. If these categories are not enough for you, you have the capability to make new lists to suit your hearts desire.

Are you thinking about reading a book, but are wanting more information about the plot and reviews it has gotten? No problem...

Even if this is not enough to you, there is a whole lot more that the application has to offer. For those who like to update their status on Facebook and Twitter, you have the same capabilites on Goodreads. Update where you are at in your book and let your friends know how it is going so far.

Still not enough? When you have finished reading your book, take some trivia questions about the novel. Sign up for book challenges, clubs, polls, and even giveaways for free books. If your in between books, that's okay, keep up with your friend's progress on their books and challenges. Do you maintain a blog? Do what I did, install a widget so your viewers can keep up with what you are reading.

Ladies and gents, the list goes on and on. Goodreads.com is immense in what it can do and extremely invaluable if you are an avid book reader. If your looking for another creative outlet online that's going to encourage your love of reading (instead of sucking away your time), I urge you to try it out. I promise you'll like it.
